Tourism officials said the Bucharest-Phu Quoc and Chisinau-Phu Quoc routes from Romania and Moldova will operate until mid March 2026, bringing a steady flow of eastern European visitors to the Phu Quoc special zone in An Giang Province.

Data from digital travel platform Agoda shows a sharp rise in searches for accommodation in Vietnam from eastern Europe, with Phu Quoc leading growth at 113 per cent year on year. Searches from Slovenia rose by 77 per cent, Poland by 74 per cent, Bulgaria by 72 per cent, Romania by 69 per cent and Slovakia by 61 per cent.

Gamzat Aliev, Vietnam destination director at Join UP, said the company was committed to expanding flight programmes to position Phu Quoc as a leading Asian destination.

“With the right support and stable development on the island, we can create year round demand and long term success for Vietnam in the eastern European market,” he said, adding that competitive costs and continued investment in infrastructure would help sustain growth.

In Phu Quoc, package tours for eastern European travellers typically last 10 nights, combining high end resort stays with visits to major attractions such as VinWonders theme park, the Hon Thom cable car, the Kiss of the Sea show and the local night market.
