According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from December 13, the capital is expected to turn colder, with some areas experiencing severe cold. Temperatures in Hanoi are forecast to fall to lows of 12-14 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi to see moderate to heavy rain and colder weather on December 12-13
Across northern Vietnam, a cold spell will bring severe cold to mountainous and midland areas and extreme cold to high-altitude regions. Lows are expected at 7-10 degrees Celsius in northern uplands, below 5 degrees Celsius in high mountains, 11-14 degrees Celsius in the Red River Delta, and 12-15 degrees Celsius in northern central localities.
In Hanoi, moderate to intense rain and thunderstorms are predicted for the night of December 12 and throughout December 13, accompanied by risks of hail, lightning and gusty winds.
Heavy rain is also expected over parts of the northeastern region, western Phu Tho, eastern Son La and eastern Lao Cai during the same period, with rainfall of 30-70 mm and localised totals exceeding 120 mm.
From late December 13, the northern central region is likely to see moderate to heavy rain of 30-60 mm, with isolated areas receiving more than 100 mm, before easing from December 14.
