Tay Nha Trang Ward in Khanh Hoa Province faces serious flooding.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has approved VND 700 billion (approximately USD 26.55 million) in emergency aid for the flood hit provinces of Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Gia Lai and Dak Lak.
Under the decision, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong will each receive VND 200 billion (approximately USD 7.58 million), while Gia Lai and Dak Lak will receive VND 150 billion (approximately USD 5.68 million) each.
The four provinces were instructed to use the funds transparently and in line with State budget regulations.
In recent days, widespread heavy rain has struck the central and south central regions, with several rivers in Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa rising above historic levels. The Ba River at Cuong Son stood 1.09 metres above its 1993 record.
Deep flooding and fast moving water have isolated many residential areas, with some still inaccessible and facing food shortages.
As of the evening of November 20, the floods had left 41 people dead and nine missing. About 167 houses were damaged and more than 52,000 were inundated, while many roads were flooded or blocked by landslides.
Local authorities continue to assess damage and carry out recovery measures.
