Russian tourists are warmly welcomed in Vietnam

At a meeting on November 12 to discuss preparations for welcoming Russian travelers, a representative from Anex Vietnam Trading and Tourism Co., Ltd. revealed that the Russia-Danang charter flight route would resume operations from April 1 to October 31, 2026.

This route will connect Danang with major cities including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok, Almaty, Astana, and others within the CIS region. Flights will be jointly operated by Russia’s Azur Air and Vietnam’s VietJet Air, using wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 767, Boeing 777, and Airbus A330.

The frequency is expected to reach around 70 flights per month, equivalent to approximately 13,000 visitors, with an average stay of 10 nights or more.

According to Anex Vietnam, the company has partnered with more than 110 hotels ranging from 2 to 5 stars, providing around 2,000 rooms per day to meet the service capacity during the period when Russian and CIS tourists visit.

Russian travelers to Danang will explore major attractions such as Ba Na Hills, Son Tra Peninsula, Marble Mountains, Hoi An Ancient Town, and the Golden Bridge.

Nguyen Huong Thuy, communications representative of Anex Vietnam, noted that Russian and CIS tourists often prefer leisure and relaxation trips. They travel to escape the winter and enjoy the beach, which makes Danang an increasingly popular destination.

Van Ba Son, vice director of the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, shared at the event that in recent years, the number of Russian and CIS tourists has rebounded rapidly, making this group one of Danang’s key source markets, accounting for about 5 per cent.

He added that thanks to the visa exemption policy, modern tourism infrastructure, and long coastline stretching across the country, Vietnam is currently the third most popular destination for Russian tourists.

It is estimated that in 2025, Vietnam will welcome over 425,000 Russian visitors, placing it among the top 10 key source markets.

At the meeting, representatives from the accommodation and restaurant sectors stated that they would actively enhance their services to attract travellers from Russia and the CIS, in order to further diversify the city’s tourism market.
