The visit, the first by King Abdullah II, takes place at a time when both countries celebrate 45 years of diplomatic relations (1980 - 2025) this year.

Ambassador of Vietnam to the United Arab Emirates and Jordan Nguyen Thanh Diep shared that the King’ss visit is a historic milestone in bilateral relations, opening a new phase of cooperation and creating a foundation for further collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

The Ambassador expressed hope that through this visit, Vietnam-Jordan relations would experience breakthroughs across all sectors. Specifically, there are plans to boost bilateral trade to USD 500 million by 2030 and USD 1 billion by 2035, as well as to enhance cooperation in food security.

Currently, Vietnam mainly exports agricultural products, seafood, electronics and components, textiles, chemicals, wood, plastics, and equipment to Jordan, while importing textiles, fertilizers, and chemicals. Bilateral trade in 2024 was valued at USD 188.138 million, with Vietnam’s exports to Jordan reaching USD 180.526 million.

As of September 2025, Jordan has 5 active investment projects in Vietnam with a registered capital of around USD 1 million, ranking 108th among 153 countries and territories investing in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Vietnam has no investment projects in Jordan.

Politically, the two countries have maintained high-level exchanges over time. Though they have not yet established a political consultation mechanism or joint committee, they continue to coordinate and support each other at regional and international forums.

The two countries have signed several key cooperation agreements, including the 1994 Air Transport Agreement (1994) and the 1997 Agreement on Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion.

At previous meetings with Vietnamese leaders, King Abdullah II expressed strong admiration for Vietnam and its people, praising their hardworking nature and the country’s remarkable achievements in socio-economic development. He also expected to bolster cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, and social areas.

During the visit, King Abdullah II is expected to hold talks with President Luong Cuong, witness the signing of several agreements, and meet with key Vietnamese leaders. He will deliver a speech at a Vietnam-Jordan business forum and engage in a roundtable discussion on the textile industry.
