Visitors at the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden
The company’s Q3 financial report shows improved performance thanks to a sharp rise in visitor numbers.
According to the report, ticket sales increased nearly 14 per cent compared with the same period last year. On average, the HCM City zoo welcomed more than 5,500 visitors a day.
Gate revenue accounted for more than 60 per cent of total earnings. Supporting services, including beverages, dining, game zones, electric train rides, vehicle parking and souvenirs, generated more than VND 20.5 billion (approximately USD 820,000).
Total cumulative revenue in the first nine months reached nearly VND 122 billion (approximately USD 4.9 million), up more than 13 per cent year on year. After deducting costs, gross profit reached nearly VND 35 billion (approximately USD 1.4 million); post-tax profit was more than VND 4.8 billion (approximately USD 190,000), an increase of nearly 12 per cent from a year earlier.
Founded in 1864, Saigon Zoo is 160 years old and is ranked among the eight oldest zoological gardens in the world still in operation. It is not only a popular attraction for city residents but also plays a key role in conserving the urban ecosystem.
As of 2024, the zoo is caring for more than 2,000 animals of 135 species, including endangered species listed in the Red Book such as crested pheasant, douc, yellow-cheeked gibbon, golden deer, Asiatic golden cat and clouded leopard. Its flora collection is also diverse, with more than 2,500 trees and over 900 plant species.
