A major landslide struck near the Suspension Bridge area in Xuan Truong Ward, Dalat, late on October 28, sending tonnes of soil, rocks, and uprooted pine trees tumbling onto National Highway 20. The debris buried the road, halting all traffic in both directions.

The affected slope stretches nearly 50 metres long and 20 metres high. Officials said the ground above the site remains unstable, with cracks widening and soil continuing to shift, posing danger to workers clearing the debris.

Police and local forces cordoned off the area overnight, banning all vehicles for safety. The road surface leading to the bridge also developed a 30-metre-long crack up to 10 centimetres wide, while the embankment showed signs of severe subsidence.

Crews have been deployed to remove fallen trees and assess the risk of further collapse. Several other slopes along the national highway experienced minor landslides and sinkage of up to 40 centimetres, prompting authorities to install warning signs.

D’ran Pass, about 10 kilometres long with multiple sharp bends, is a crucial mountain link between Dalat and Song Pha Pass on National Highway 27, forming the main route between Dalat and Phan Rang Ward in Khanh Hoa.
