Many people swim at a beach in Nha Trang amid rough seas and strong waves on October 26.
Authorities in Khanh Hoa Province have issued safety warnings and installed “No swimming” signs in both Vietnamese and English along Nha Trang’s beaches as strong waves and turbulent seas pose serious safety risks.

On October 26, waves as high as 1-2 meters battered the coast, making swimming and other beach activities hazardous. However, many tourists, especially foreigners, ignored the warnings and entered deep water to swim.
According to the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, rescue teams saved two foreign tourists from drowning on October 18 and 22. Earlier, on October 16, the waterway traffic police also rescued another foreign visitor who had been swept away by strong waves.
Dam Hai Van, head of the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, said that in addition to placing warning signs, his team has been using loudspeakers to directly alert swimmers. Patrols have also been increased to monitor the beaches and respond to emergencies.
The board has sent official notices to local tourism businesses and associations, urging them to remind visitors of the dangers of swimming during rough sea conditions.
