Vice Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee Tran Nam Hung chaired an online meeting on October 20 on response measures for Typhoon Fengshen and the coming period of heavy rain.
Danang is predicted to experience widespread rainfall totalling 350-600mm from the night of October 22 to 27, with some areas exceeding 800mm. Hung said that experts believe the storm will bring mild winds but extremely heavy rain, possibly surpassing the record levels of October 14, 2022.

To stay proactive, the city plans to mobilise around 300 small boats from volunteer groups and armed forces to assist in evacuations and deliver essential supplies to flooded areas. Life jackets will also be distributed to residents in low-lying zones.
Colonel Nguyen Huu Ich, head of the city’s Military Command, has been assigned to oversee rescue operations and ensure that all equipment and fuel are ready for deployment. Hung emphasised that all forces must maintain the highest level of readiness.
Districts have been instructed to identify areas prone to landslides, flash floods, and inundation and complete relocations before 5 pm on October 22.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment was ordered to monitor reservoirs and discharge water from those operating at 80-100 per cent capacity.
Hung urged households to stock enough food for at least three days instead of relying on citywide distribution as in previous floods. He also advised residents to move vehicles to higher ground, protect belongings, and harvest crops early to minimise losses.
