According to initial reports, at around 1 pm on October 17, the man went into a forest area in Subzone 854 of Dak Wil Commune to collect bamboo shoots. When he did not return, his relatives reported the incident to local authorities.
Dak Wil Commune police launched a search operation and, by 9 am on October 18, found the man dead in a dense forest area.

The victim’s body bore numerous bruises and severe trauma, according to initial police reports. Meanwhile, the scene showed multiple traces believed to be elephant footprints nearby.
Authorities are examining the scene and the body for further investigation.
According to residents in Dak Wil Commune, wild elephants have frequently appeared at night in nearby farms in recent days, damaging huts, crops and plants.
