Vietnam’s “Thang Long Hoi” (Thang Long Festival) costume, worn by Vietnam's representative Yen Nhi, has been voted one of the Top 10 Best National Costumes at the Miss Grand International (MGI) 2025 pageant, currently taking place in Bangkok, Thailand.

Created by designer Nguyen Huy Hoang, the outfit draws inspiration from Vietnam’s traditional water puppetry, a unique folk art form that has existed for over a millennium. The costume recreates the image of communal house roofs reflected on serene lakes,a familiar setting in many Vietnamese folktales, while symbolizing the nation’s creativity and indomitable spirit.

The design captivated audiences with its striking visual appeal and impressed judges with its harmonious blend of folk theatre and deeply rooted Vietnamese cultural motifs.

Earlier, “Thang Long Hoi” won the top prize in the national costume competition at Miss Grand Vietnam 2025.

Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi, 21, from Dak Lak Province in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, was crowned Miss Grand Vietnam 2025 after surpassing 34 contestants in the grand finale held in Ho Chi Minh City on September 14. She also placed in the Top 5 of the Grand Heat and Fashion Beauty sub-contests, and in the Top 10 of the Grand Voice competition.

Nhi is currently a third-year student majoring in travel services management at Van Hien University in Ho Chi Minh City.
