At around 2.30 pm, Denis, 24, was swimming with friends near Bach Dang Park on Tran Phu Street in Nha Trang Ward when rough weather and rain made the sea turbulent. Moments later, Denis struggled to stay afloat and was carried away by strong waves.

One of his friends tried to help but failed, and immediately called for assistance from people on the shore.

The waterway police unit of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police dispatched three officers on a canoe to the location, about 50 metres from the shore, where the tourist was drifting. They managed to pull him out of the water and bring him safely to shore.

Authorities confirmed that Denis is now in stable condition.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Khanh Hoa experienced thunderstorms and heavy rain on October 16, causing severe flooding in several parts of Nha Trang Ward after hours of continuous rainfall.
