On Thoai Ngoc Hau Street, floodwaters reached depths of 40 to 90 centimetres, making it extremely difficult for people to travel.
Two trucks broke down after attempting to pass through the flooded intersection of Thoai Ngoc Hau and Dien Bien Phu streets, forcing drivers to stop in the middle of the road.
A woman taking her child to school in the morning was trapped by rising floodwater on Dien Bien Phu Street. After waiting for more than an hour for the water to recede without success, she eventually had to turn off her motorbike and walk back home.
“When I first passed through, the water was about 30 centimetres deep, so I thought I could make it. But when I waited to go back, it just kept rising, so I had to push my bike home,” she said.
Another car was seen stranded in the middle of deep water at the corner of Thoai Ngoc Hau Street.
Several drivers chose to park their vehicles on higher ground near the Binh Phu 2 apartment complex in Bac Nha Trang to avoid flooding, waiting for the rain to ease before moving on.
Flooding also left around 500 metres of Dien Bien Phu Street, in front of Vinh Hoa 1 Primary School, deserted as water levels rose.
Worried about floodwater entering their homes, many residents put up makeshift barriers at their doors.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, rainfall is expected to continue in Nha Trang with volumes of 20 to 40 millimetres, and in some areas over 60 millimetres. Authorities have warned of potential flash floods, landslides, and ground subsidence in districts such as Ninh Hoa, Cam Lam, Dien Khanh, and Bac Nha Trang, urging residents to stay alert, monitor weather updates, and avoid travelling through flooded or unstable areas.
