The only bridge connecting Po Se Hamlet to the surrounding areas has been swept away by floods.
Nearly 30 households, comprising 130 residents in Po Se Hamlet, Thien Thuat Commune, Lang Son Province, are seeking assistance after the only bridge connecting their village to the surrounding areas was swept away by floods.
Heavy rains and floods caused by the remnants of Typhoon Matmo have devastated the hamlet, where locals depend mainly on small-scale farming and livestock. The floods destroyed much of their rice, maize, and poultry, and washed away the Pac Thoong Bridge, the only route linking Po Se Hamlet with the commune centre.
According to Ma Van Que, Party cell secretary of Po Se Hamlet, the Pac Thoong Bridge spanned about 30 metres and was 3.5 metres wide. Built in 2021, it served 29 households in Po Se Hamlet and several neighbouring ones, allowing them to cross the Yen Hung stream to reach Thien Thuat Commune and nearby villages.
“After the flood, local authorities and residents built a temporary bamboo bridge for crossing,” Que said. “However, with the strong current, the makeshift bridge is unsafe. Given the limited local budget, we sincerely hope Dantri readers will lend support to help us rebuild the bridge.”

Local authorities and residents are building a temporary bamboo bridge for crossing.
Speaking with Dantri/Dtinews, Hoang Thi Thuy, Party Secretary of Thien Thuat Commune, said the commune has a population of 7,306 people, mostly Tay, Nung, and Dao ethnic groups.
“Thien Thuat is a mountainous commune divided by rivers, streams, and high mountains, making transportation extremely difficult,” Thuy said. “Infrastructure remains poor, and many areas still lack access to electricity. The commune’s poverty and near-poverty rate in 2024 remains high at 55.6 per cent.”
She added that Typhoon Matmo had caused severe damage to local infrastructure, destroying homes, roads, and bridges. “The Pac Thoong Bridge’s complete collapse has cut off residents’ access. We hope Dtinews readers and philanthropists can support us in rebuilding this vital bridge as soon as possible.”
