
Many houses and roads are deeply submerged following heavy downpours triggered by the Typhoon Bualoi in Lao Cai Province on September 30.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment's reports, as of 5 pm on October 1, the storm had injured 140 people and caused property damage of nearly VND 9,000 billion (about USD 348.6 million).
More than 150 houses collapsed and over 150,000 homes suffered damage or lost roofs, particularly in Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces. In agriculture, 48,714 ha of rice and crops were destroyed, over 1,500 livestock and nearly 382,000 poultry perished. Fisheries lost 13,334 ha, mostly in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa.
Flooding, landslides and traffic blockages occurred at 3,035 points on major roads. Some 63,608 trees were uprooted, especially in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Quang Tri.
The preliminary economic loss in several provinces reached VND 8,780 billion, with Ha Tinh bearing the heaviest hit, around VND 6,000 billion.
On October 1, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha issued a directive ordering the swift compilation of damage assessments and the launch of recovery operations in the aftermath of Typhoon Bualoi and associated flooding.
