
A house in Ninh Binh are severely damaged by Typhoon Bualoi on September 29.
Of the fatalities, 11 people died in thunderstorms in Ninh Binh and Hung Yen, while others were reported in Son La, Lang Son, Nghe An, Hue, Ha Tinh, Danang, and Thanh Hoa due to floods, landslides, and accidents.
Among the 13 missing, 12 were crew members on three fishing boats sunk by high waves off Quang Tri, while another eight fishermen from Gia Lai lost contact on September 27 about 110 nautical miles offshore.
The storm, with winds of force 8-11, damaged more than 104,000 houses, mainly in Ha Tinh, Nghe An, and Quang Tri. Heavy rains and tidal surges also inundated over 9,400 hectares of rice and crops in the central region.
Airlines cancelled 42 flights and delayed 51 others at Danang, Phu Bai, Dong Hoi, and Tho Xuan airports.
More than 3,400 power poles collapsed in Ninh Binh, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh, leaving Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Quang Tri in widespread blackout.
Bualoi made landfall in Ha Tinh at 1 am on September 29 with wind force 11. The storm lingered on land for 13 hours before weakening into a tropical depression over northern Laos.
