Storm Bualoi to enter East Sea, risks intensifying

Storm Bualoi is expected to move into the East Sea on the night of September 26, becoming the 10th storm of the year, forecasters said.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 1 am on September 26, the storm’s eye was over the central Philippines with maximum sustained winds of 103-117 km/h and gusts up to level 14.

Bualoi is moving west-northwest at 25-30 km/h and is forecast to enter the East Sea tonight. It is expected to continue on a west-northwest track, potentially strengthening while maintaining its rapid pace.

By September 28, the storm could intensify further, with gusts reaching level 15. From late September 26, the northeast and central East Sea will face winds at level 8-9, near the centre 10-12 with gusts up to 15, along with waves of 5-7 metres, creating very rough seas and high risks for vessels.

The weather agency said the storm’s track and landfall remain uncertain. In the coming days, Bualoi may either move directly toward the Danang-Hue area or track along the coast toward the north-central and northeast provinces.

Maritime operations in the northern and central East Sea are expected to be affected by strong winds and high waves between September 27 and 29.
