Pilot Haiphong train commuter service begins

A pilot service to carry around 300 staff and employees on daily commutes from the western to the eastern part of Haiphong City has begun.

This move follows the merger of Haiphong with Hai Duong Province under the unified name of Haiphong City.

The HP15/HP16 train pair, consisting of 5 to 8 carriages with 64 soft seats each, completes the journey in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

On the Hai Duong-Haiphong route, HP15 departs from Hai Duong Station at 6 am, makes a stop at Thuong Ly Station at 6.55 am to pick up passengers, and arrives at Haiphong Station at 7.10 am.

On the return route, HP16 leaves Haiphong Station at 5 pm, stops at Thuong Ly Station at 5.25 pm, and arrives at Hai Duong Station at 6.20 pm.

Haiphong has arranged additional buses to shuttle staff between the stations and their workplaces, and vice versa.

During the trial phase, the railway sector will conduct evaluations every 10 days to adjust the timetable and ticket prices, while also considering the feasibility of launching the service officially.
