Four fishermen rescued off An Giang coast

Four crew members of a sunken fishing boat were rescued on September 17 after drifting for three hours clinging to a styrofoam box in the waters off An Giang Province.

At around 7 am, Superdong VII high-speed ferry, captained by Vu Xuan Thuy, departed Rach Gia for Phu Quoc. When reaching the waters near Hon Nghe, the crew spotted two people clinging to a styrofoam box and urgently rescued them.

The two are Nguyen Thi Kim Nhat, 43, and her son Cao Van Sang, 18, from An Giang.

Both were cold, hungry, and in weak condition after drifting for hours. The crew promptly provided warmth, medical care, and light food before transferring them to Bai Vong Border Guard Station in Phu Quoc.

Shortly before, Captain Le Van Nhien of the Thriving 16 vessel reported rescuing two other fishermen, Cao Van Teo, 48, and Nguyen Vu Hiep, 42, both from An Giang. After bringing them safely aboard, he contacted the Superdong VII to coordinate the search for the remaining two.

According to the initial information, the four people, Cao Van Teo, his wife Nguyen Thi Kim Nhat, their son Cao Van Sang, and Nguyen Vu Hiep, were aboard the fishing boat KG-92503-TS when it sank in rough seas. They clung to floating objects for hours before being rescued in time by two passing vessels.
