On September 11, Dtinews, in collaboration with local authorities in Lam Dong, held a ceremony to hand over a newly built house to Le Thi Tinh, 36, who has faced overwhelming difficulties raising her children alone.

Tinh's new house is built on a 70-square-metre plot and has two bedrooms.

Tinh’s husband left when the children were small. She has no stable job and her family has struggled to survive. Her eldest daughter, Le Hai Bang, 13, was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer, while her seven-year-old twin sons, Le Minh Dang and Le Minh Dat, suffer from autism and hyperactivity.

After her story was published by Dtinews, readers donated more than VND 282 million (approximately USD 10,900). The Ai Tam Charity Association contributed an additional VND 70 million (approximately USD 2,700) to help her build the house she had long dreamed of. The Lam Dong Sponsorship Association also raised hundreds of millions of dong in further support for the family’s medical and daily needs.

Built on a 70-square-metre plot, the house includes two bedrooms. On moving day, Tinh fought back tears as she said, “The house my children and I have always dreamed of is now a reality. From today, we no longer have to fear storms or dampness.”

Nguyen Van Luc, chairman of the Lam Dong Sponsorship Association, praised the solidarity that made the project possible. “Thanks to the contributions of Dtinews readers and our association members, Tinh now has a decent home. I hope her family can soon stabilise their lives and that her children will recover to return to school,” he said.

Responding to the Government’s campaign to eliminate makeshift housing, Dtinews has set a target of building 200 houses for poor and disadvantaged households nationwide in 2024–2025. So far, 218 homes have been started, with 155 already completed.

In addition to the housing project, Dtinews has in recent years built 58 classrooms, 31 bridges and roads for local communities, 50 floating houses to withstand floods, and organised 25 free medical programmes for more than 6,000 people. The newspaper has also donated 5,054 free health insurance cards to poor students and launched nearly 6,000 fundraising campaigns to support families in extreme hardship.
