The cliff is situated at an altitude of approximately 1,700 metres above sea level on Ma Pi Leng Pass, just 2 kilometres from the Dong Van's Old Quarter and Meo Vac Town. It is known as a favourite check-in spot in Seo Sa Lung for travellers.

The authorities of Dong Van Commune have warned visitors not to travel on the route from the Youth Volunteers Monument to the cliff area or use the nearby pathways.
According to Pham Duc Nam, Deputy Secretary and Chairman of Dong Van Commune, the suspension is aimed at repairing access roads and installing additional stone fences to ensure visitor safety.
The site has attracted a large number of visitors in recent years, but it also poses several risks. A British tourist was injured in March 2023 while climbing Death Cliff to take photos. He was struck by falling rocks from above, causing a fall and injuries to the left leg.
A tourist from Son La suffered a similar accident while taking photos at the site in 2021. The victim slipped and fell into a rocky crevice, sustaining a deep thigh wound and multiple abrasions from the sharp stones below.
