Surge in visitors to Quang Tri Citadel following Red Rain film

Quang Tri Citadel received a rise in visitors during the recent National Day holiday, partly due to the impact of the Red Rain film.

According to Cap Thi Thien Trang, Head of the Management Board of the Le Duan Memorial Site and Quang Tri Citadel, the citadel welcomed nearly 10,000 visitors over the recent holiday.

On September 2 alone, more than 3,800 visitors came to Quang Tri Citadel to pay tribute to fallen heroes and martyrs, marking a record high and far exceeding previous holiday figures.

“In recent days, Quang Tri Citadel has served huge crowds, partly because of the National Day holiday and partly due to the impact of the Red Rain film. Many visitors told me that after watching the film, they were inspired to come here to offer incense and honour the fallen heroes and martyrs,” Trang added.

During a family visit in Quang Tri, Nguyen Thi Ha, 47, from Danang, and her son went to the citadel to offer incense in tribute.

Ha said Red Rain was deeply moving, and listening to the narration while learning about the stories and relics of soldiers who fought and fell at Quang Tri Citadel gave her a more profound sense of the war’s brutality and the great sacrifices of earlier generations.

In just 81 days and nights, US and Saigon forces dropped more than 328,000 tonnes of bombs and shells on Quang Tri Citadel, including 5,000 artillery shells on July 25 alone.

Red Rain, produced by the People’s Army Cinema, is a revolutionary war film based on a script by writer Chu Lai. It depicts the Second Battle of Quang Tri in the Vietnam War in 1972.
