The landslide blocks access to Cat Ba National Park
Authorities in Cat Hai Ward cordoned off the site and deployed excavators to clear debris, ensuring traffic safety.
Officials said days of heavy rain had likely loosened saturated soil and rocks, triggering the collapse. Experts have been sent to assess the risk of further landslides.
The road will remain closed until safety is guaranteed. Local officials said the closure would not cause major disruption for residents or tourists.
The blocked road, once the main route linking the ferry terminal and Cat Ba Town, is now used mostly to access Cat Ba National Park, after a new coastal highway became the island’s primary route.
