According to weather expert Nguyen Ngoc Huy, a tropical depression is developing off the eastern coast of the central Philippines. It is forecast to move into the East Sea on the evening of August 22 and intensify into the fifth storm of the year.
Huy forecasted that the storm will track westward toward the central region and is likely to make landfall on August 24-25.
Huy added that the storm’s precise landfall point remains uncertain at this time, but he urged residents from Quang Ngai to Thanh Hoa to closely monitor subsequent weather forecasts.
The storm is likely to bring widespread rainfall and significant water volumes, as warm sea surface temperatures and prevailing easterly winds could push moist clouds inland under the storm’s inertia before the eye makes landfall.
