Russian military arrive in Hanoi for National Day parade

A Russian military contingent arrived in Hanoi today, August 20, to prepare for the parade and march to mark the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2.

Colonel Phung Chi Cao, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, welcomed the contingent of around 30 service members from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

As soon as the aircraft carrying the Russian military contingent landed at Noi Bai International Airport, units of the Ministry of Defence, in coordination with concerned agencies, promptly completed immigration procedures for the guests.

The Russian military personnel then travelled by bus to the centre of Hanoi.

The upcoming parade will see the participation of military contingents from China, Laos, Cambodia, and others.

The event will begin at 6.30 am on September 2 at Ba Dinh Square. After passing the reviewing stand, the contingents will split into seven columns, marching along major streets in the city centre.

Residents can watch the event along the parade route as well as on 270 LED screens installed across various locations in the city.
