Fifteen trucks carrying 15 105mm artillery pieces were moved from Doai Phuong Commune to My Dinh Stadium. These guns will fire a 21-gun salute during the ceremony.

Other hardware was transferred from suburban areas to the command post on Nguyen Tri Phuong Street in Ba Dinh Ward.

As convoys of military vehicles and artillery moved towards central Hanoi, hundreds of residents lined the streets waving red flags with yellow stars and cheering.

A column of armoured vehicles stretched for more than two kilometres at My Dinh Stadium, with Scud missiles and BM-21 rocket launchers joining the assembly point.

A BTR-60PU command vehicle was seen at the Yen Phu-Cua Bac intersection.

A KZKT-7428 heavy tractor carried modern T-90S/MS tanks into position.

Residents recorded images of the T-90 tanks as they passed Cua Bac crossroads.

Meanwhile, upgraded Soviet-made T-54B and T-55 tanks, described as powerful mobile fortresses with artillery and anti-aircraft machine guns, also joined the line-up.

All equipment was thoroughly checked before being unloaded at the command sites.
