Petrol prices fit four-year low

Fuel prices fell after the latest adjustment from 3 pm today, August 14, following the decision by the ministries of Finance and Industry and Trade.

E5 RON 92 dropped by VND 250 per litre to VND 19,350 per litre, while RON 95 decreased by VND 190 per litre to 19,880 per litre.

Similarly, oil prices saw further declines with diesel down by VND 730 per litre to VND 18,070 per litre, kerosene down by VND 640 per litre to VND 18,020 per litre, and mazut down by VND 380 per kilo to VND 15,260 per kilo.

Domestic petrol prices have reversed after two consecutive hikes, and are now at their lowest in over four years, matching June 2021 levels.

Since early this year, RON 95 has risen 18 times and fallen 16 times, while diesel has seen 16 increases, and 16 decreases.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is consulting on a proposed roadmap for nationwide adoption of biofuels, with a target to switch entirely to E10 petrol, blended with 10 per cent ethanol, starting January 1, 2026.
