Thai Nguyen flooded again, residents use boats to travel

Torrential rain has inundated many streets in the northern province of Thai Nguyen, forcing residents to travel by boat.

According to Thai Nguyen Province’s Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Centre, the locality struggled with widespread rain and thunderstorms over the past 24 hours, with the highest rainfall ranging between 130-149.3mm in some areas.

The province is expected to continue to experience showers and thunderstorms, with locally heavy to very heavy rain. Thunderstorms may bring lightning, strong winds, and tornadoes.

Some streets in Thai Nguyen Province have been severely flooded by 0.8 metres.

During the night of July 31, floodwaters on Minh Cau Street in Phan Dinh Phung Ward rose to waist level, turning off motorbikes and cars. Some residents resorted to using boats for transportation.

On Luong Ngoc Quyen Street, near the gate of Thai Nguyen General Hospital, floodwaters turned the area into a vast expanse of water, bringing traffic to a complete standstill.
