People help search for the dimond ring that a couple from New Zealand lost in Hue City on July 30.

Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the Hue City Department of Tourism, confirmed on the morning of July 31 that local authorities were verifying reports that a couple from New Zealand had accidentally dropped a diamond ring during their visit to 3 Thang 2 Park in Thuan Hoa Ward.

According to Tram, the Thuan Hoa Ward Police Department received the report and deployed officers to assist with the search, though the ring has not yet been recovered.

Le Nhu Chinh, Director of the Hue Green Parks Centre, said the incident occurred on the morning of July 30. Upon receiving the report, staff stationed at the park began searching immediately, but without success. Park workers have been instructed to return the ring should it be found.

The story quickly spread on social media in Hue, where photos and posts described locals gathering at the park to help the couple search. Even after dark, residents continued searching with flashlights, combing through grass and brush in hopes of finding the ring.

Nhat Hoang, a member of Hue’s free motorbike taxi team, said the couple had confirmed the ring was worth about VND 60 million (approximately USD 2,360), but held significant sentimental value.

The tourists, who are staying at a hotel on Nguyen Cong Tru Street, have expressed deep gratitude for the kindness and generosity shown by the people of Hue.
