The Para Bowling Club, located in Thanh My Loi Ward in HCM City, was established through a collaboration between the HCM City Sports Training Centre and the MegaBowl Centre.

Led by Coach Bao Ky, an experienced mentor of the HCM City bowling team, the club has swiftly embraced a professional approach and captured the attention and support of the wider public.

The club is now home to 30 members, including people with mobility impairments, Down Syndrome, and autism. Sessions are held at noon, Monday to Thursday.

The club aims to do more than foster a movement. According to Coach Bao Ky, athletes with talent and potential will be scouted to represent HCM City in national and international competitions.

The club has also welcomed para-athletes from different sports, including Nguyen Hong Loi, a veteran swimmer in Vietnam’s para sports scene. He believes bowling offers fresh inspiration and rekindles the sporting spirit within the community.

“This new sport has me genuinely excited and inspired. From mastering how to grip the ball to delivering it with precision, every step is a rewarding challenge that demands full focus and commitment,” Loi added.

According to Nguyen Quoc Trung, a resident of Binh Tan District, “At first, I just wanted to try it out, but after a few sessions, it felt like I had found a new family. Here, we meet, train, and encourage one another. I truly hope the city will create more inclusive spaces like this for the disabled community.”

In recent years, Ho Chi Minh City’s para sports movement has seen encouraging progress, with increasing attention and meaningful support from both local authorities and the wider community.
