Flight delays and cancellations soar in June

Vietnamese airlines saw a sharp rise in flight delays and cancellations in June during the peak summer travel season.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), Vietnamese carriers operated a total of 24,304 flights in June, including Vietnam Airlines Group (Vietnam Airlines, Vasco, Pacific Airlines), Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, and Vietravel Airlines.

Vietnam Airlines conducted 11,191 flights with an on-time rate of 62 per cent. It was followed by Vietjet Air's 10,696 flights and a punctuality rate of 46 per cent, while Bamboo Airways recorded 1,010 flights, with 71.5 per cent departing on time.

Vietravel Airlines ran 227 flights with an on-time rate of 85 per cent, making it the most punctual domestic carrier in June 2025.

VASCO provided 507 flights with an on-time rate of 83.8 per cent, while Pacific Airlines conducted 673 flights with a punctuality rate of 70.6 per cent.

Vietnamese airlines averaged a 56 per cent on-time departure rate in June, down nearly 10 percentage points from 65.9 per cent in May.

In June, as many as 10,682 flights were delayed, accounting for around 44 per cent of the total flight number, nearly 10 percentage points higher than May's 34.1 per cent.

Vietnam Airlines reported 4,306 delayed flights, making up 38.5 per cent of its total operations. VietJet Air witnessed 5,774 delays (54 per cent), followed by Bamboo Airways with 288 (28.5 per cent), Pacific Airlines with 198 (29.4 per cent), Vietravel with 34 (15 per cent), and VASCO with 82 delays (16.2 per cent).
