Inaugurated in 2016, the two-storey passenger terminal at Tho Xuan Airport spans 5,000 square metres with an annual design capacity of 1.2 million passengers and 600 passengers per peak hour.

As passenger volume has surpassed the design capacity in recent years, Tho Xuan Airport began renovations on March 28 to improve service quality. Work included expanding check-in and circulation areas, upgrading the oval baggage carousel, renovating three boarding gates, and reorganising the security screening zone.
The airport also upgraded its electrical system, installed automatic doors to ease passenger flow, expanded and standardised the fire protection system, and enhanced lighting to improve convenience and service quality.
The airport has experienced a sharp rise in passenger traffic during the summer peak, particularly since July 1 2025, when Vinh Airport in Nghe An closed for repairs.
