The National Highway 15D is blocked by landslide in Quang Tri Province on July 8.
According to the La Lay Border Guard Station, the incident occurred on the afternoon of July 7 in La Lay Commune, Quang Tri Province during ongoing construction work to widen a sharp bend on the highway. The landslide completely blocked traffic in both directions.
The affected section is one of 11 bends currently being upgraded under a road expansion project managed by the provincial Department of Transport.
Following the incident, local authorities and construction teams immediately set up checkpoints to prevent vehicles from entering the hazardous area and deployed heavy machinery to clear the debris. Restoration efforts began overnight and were ongoing as of 9 am on July 8.
Local officials from La Lay Commune also arrived at the scene to coordinate the response. Authorities say they are making every effort to reopen the road to the border gate as soon as possible.
