Van Quyet shines with a brace as Vietnam All Stars come from behind to beat Manchester Reds 3-2
The exhibition game was part of the 2025 Vietnam–UK Football Festival, which promotes tourism, sports, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Manchester Reds featured a lineup of former Manchester United legends and young British players, including Wes Brown, Michael Owen, Dwight Yorke, and Teddy Sheringham. Vietnam All Stars included former national team players such as Le Huynh Duc, Nguyen Van Sy, Pham Van Quyen, and Duong Hong Son, along with current stars like Do Duy Manh and Nguyen Van Quyet.
The visitors dominated early play and opened the scoring in the 6th minute when Souza dribbled past defenders and slotted the ball into the near post past goalkeeper Duong Hong Son.
Marc Fuller added a second shortly after. Although his shot lacked power, the wet pitch led to a handling error by Duong, allowing the ball to slip through and make it 2-0.
Vietnam All Stars responded in the 21st minute. Huynh Duc delivered a precise through ball to Van Quyet, who calmly finished to narrow the gap to 2-1. Eight minutes later, Van Quyen equalised from the penalty spot.
In the second half, Vietnam All Stars gained control. In the 64th minute, Manchester Reds goalkeeper Aziaya misplayed a pass across goal, which Van Quyet intercepted and converted to complete the comeback.
