The incident occurred at around 12.25 pm on June 22, when Malaysia Airlines flight MH752 from Kuala Lumpur landed at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi.
Shortly after landing, a flight attendant standing at the cabin door asked, in English, about a black carry-on case the man was holding. In response, the passenger replied by just saying bomb.

Authorities confirmed that no suspicious items or prohibited objects were found in the case.
The cabin crew immediately alerted airport security. Upon arrival at the terminal, officers from the Noi Bai International Airport Border Gate Police temporarily detained the man for questioning.
The passenger, a 38-year-old Vietnamese national, later admitted the remark was a misguided joke made due to poor judgement and a lack of awareness.
The black, rectangular carry-on case measured 40 x 15 x 15 cm and contained a computer keyboard and mouse. Authorities confirmed that no suspicious or prohibited items were found inside.
Noi Bai International Airport has reminded passengers not to make jokes or false statements about bombs, explosives or weapons under any circumstances, either at the airport or onboard aircraft. Travellers are also urged to cooperate fully with airline and security staff during inspections.
