Whales found hunting in Vinh Hy Bay

A group of tourists visiting Vinh Hy Bay in the southern province of Ninh Thuan have spotted a large whale hunting in the area.

While leading a group of visitors to Hon Rua Beach in Ninh Hai District on the morning of June 24, Di Doi Tin, a tour guide at Vinh Hy Bay, saw the whale emerging from the water with its mouth wide open in pursuit of prey. A flock of seabirds circled and swooped around its jaws.

Many tourists eagerly filmed and photographed the rare sighting. Footage captured by residents revealed that the whale was notably large.

Residents believe it may have been a humpback whale. Its appearance signals a healthy marine ecosystem with abundant food. With proper protection, whales could return more often, supporting Ninh Thuan’s image and marine ecotourism development.
