The deal marks a new chapter in Vietjet’s ambition to become a multinational aviation group.
This order follows Vietjet’s agreement last month to acquire 20 new A330neo wide-body aircraft, raising its total wide-body fleet to 40. These new jets will support the airline’s plans to boost capacity across high-demand Asia-Pacific routes and introduce long-haul flights to Europe in the future.
Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Vietjet, said: “I dream of and am determined to help Vietnam become a regional aviation hub, not only for passenger transport but also for logistics, technical services, training, R&D, global supply chains, and infrastructure. A strong fleet is key to achieving that vision.”
Benoit de Saint-Exupery, Executive Vice President of Commercial Aircraft Sales at Airbus, stated: “This latest agreement with Vietjet comes just weeks after their order for more A330neos. The A321neo and A330neo will form the ideal foundation for Vietjet to expand and optimise its growing network.”
The A321neo is the largest variant of Airbus’s best-selling A320neo family. With next-generation engines and Sharklet wingtips, it offers a 50 per cent reduction in noise, more than 20 per cent fuel savings, and lower CO₂ emissions, while delivering enhanced passenger comfort in the widest single-aisle cabin on the market.
