On June 9, Nguyen Thanh Hai, Head of the Khanh Hoi Border Guard Station, confirmed that the unit had received and provided food, medical care and support to the eight crew members, who are now in stable health and condition.

According to the station’s report, at midday on June 7, while fishing about 70 nautical miles southeast of Hon Khoai Island, a fishing boat captained by 39-year-old Dang Van Phil spotted eight people (six men and two women) waving for help from a makeshift raft. Captain Phil immediately notified the boat’s owner and reported the incident to the Khanh Hoi Border Guard.

Following orders, he steered the vessel to rescue the individuals and brought them safely ashore, where they were handed over to local authorities.

Initial information revealed that the group of nine (seven men and two women) had been working aboard a supply vessel. When the ship encountered a malfunction and sank, one person went missing while the others managed to build a raft and drift into Vietnamese waters.
