A 200kg dolphin showing signs of exhaustion was successfully returned to the sea on the morning of June 5, 2025.
Officers from the Tien Sa Port Border Guard Station discovered the dolphin at around 9 am struggling in shallow waters with visible scratches and signs of fatigue.
Border guards approached the dolphin, administered basic care to stabilise its condition, and coordinated with local fishermen to transport it back to deeper waters using a small boat.
The dolphin was safely released into a deeper waters at around 10 am, where it was able to swim away.
Captain Tran The Dung, a monitoring officer at the Tien Sa Port Border Guard Station who participated in the rescue, confirmed that the dolphin had sustained minor injuries, likely caused by stranding.
This is the first known dolphin stranding in the Tien Sa Beach area. Initial assessments suggest the animal may have been weakened after becoming entangled in fishing nets and was later swept ashore by waves.
