The white-cheeked black gibbon is an extremely rare primate. It is listed as a critically endangered species in Vietnam and is strictly protected under national wildlife conservation laws.
Earlier, the Danang Forest Management Department received a 0.4-kilo white-bellied sea eagle handed by a local resident.
To strengthen wildlife protection efforts, the department held a conference on May 24 to improve public awareness and disseminate laws on forest conservation and the protection of rare and endangered species.
The event attracted 70 attendants, including wildlife breeding facility owners, restaurant and eatery operators, forest owners, and rapid response forest protection teams from communes and wards across the city.
The participants were provided with knowledge to identify endangered and rare wildlife species and sharpened their skills in handling situations involving violations of wildlife protection laws.
