The memorial service was conducted with national mourning rites at the National Funeral Hall on Tran Thanh Tong Street in Hanoi. Simultaneous ceremonies also took place at the Reunification Hall in Ho Chi Minh City and at Hall T50 of the Military Command in Quang Ngai Province, Luong’s hometown.
Prominent leaders, including Party General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, were present at the Hanoi service. Former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, former State Presidents Truong Tan Sang and Nguyen Tan Dung, and other former and current leaders also paid their respects.
Foreign dignitaries attending included Pany Yathotou, Politburo member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Vice President of Laos, and Men Sam An, Vice President of the Cambodian People’s Party and Chairwoman of the Cambodia – Vietnam Friendship Association.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the ceremony was attended by Politburo member and municipal Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen, former State President Nguyen Minh Triet, and other senior officials. In Quang Ngai, provincial Party Secretary Bui Thi Quynh Van and former State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc joined local authorities and residents in tribute.
In his funeral oration, State President Luong Cuong hailed Tran Duc Luong as a steadfast revolutionary and moral exemplar who had consistently upheld Party values, fostered unity, and prioritized national interests. With over 65 years of Party membership and more than 50 years of public service, Luong was praised for his profound contributions to the revolutionary cause and the country’s development.

For his dedication, Tran Duc Luong was awarded the Gold Star Order, the 65-year Party membership badge, and numerous other national and international honors.
“Farewell, Comrade,” President Cuong said in his closing remarks. “The Party, people, and army will continue on the path set by President Ho Chi Minh, maintaining the principles of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, and building a strong, independent, and prosperous Vietnam.”
Representing the bereaved family, his son Tran Tuan Anh extended heartfelt thanks to Party and State leaders, international guests, local representatives, healthcare workers, and the Vietnamese people for their condolences and support.

Following the service, the casket, draped in the national flag, was escorted through Hanoi to Noi Bai International Airport for transport to the late president's hometown in Quang Ngai. The burial took place at 3 pm the same day in Pho Khanh Commune, Duc Pho Town.


Over the two-day national mourning period, more than 830 delegations comprising approximately 10,500 people visited the three memorial sites in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Quang Ngai to pay tribute to the late president.
