Dang Ly Ly is treated at Gia Lai Paediatrics Hospital
Ly Ly was hospitalised on May 17 after falling into a well over 30 metres deep while playing in her family's garden in Pleiku City. Upon hearing the loud noise and realising what had happened, her father, Dang Bao Duy, 40, instinctively grabbed a rope and descended into the well in an attempt to rescue his daughter. However, he was injured during the descent and was unable to climb back out.
Several family members tried to descend the well to rescue them but were forced to retreat halfway due to the darkness and lack of oxygen.
Relatives then contacted the provincial Fire and Rescue Police Department and Hung Vuong Hospital in Gia Lai to request an emergency rescue.
A rescue team, along with medical personnel and specialised equipment, quickly arrived at the scene.

Dang Bao Duy and his daughter are rescued after falling into a well on May 17.
Speaking to Dantri, Dr. Le Thi Da Thao from Hung Vuong Hospital recalled: “When our team arrived, both the father and daughter were still trapped deep in the well. Realising there was a severe lack of oxygen, we coordinated with the rescue team to lower multiple oxygen tanks to provide breathable air for the two victims.”
According to Dr. Da Thao, the rescue operation lasted nearly two hours, with strong and timely support from emergency personnel. When the father and daughter were finally pulled to safety, they were semi-conscious, in a state of panic, barely breathing, and showing signs of cyanosis. Medical staff immediately administered oxygen and performed first aid before rushing them to hospital for further treatment.
“In addition to the tremendous effort from rescue teams, the fact that they survived nearly two hours in such a confined space, filled with toxic gases and lacking oxygen, is nothing short of a miracle. A major factor in their survival was the strength of their bond, a father and daughter encouraging each other to hold on,” Dr. Da Thao said.

Duy's condition has also improved.
The father suffered soft tissue injuries and is currently being treated at Gia Lai General Hospital. His condition is also improving.
