Performers at the Quintessence of Vietnam show
The night performance takes place from 8.30 to 9.15 pm on an expansive 11,000-square-metre outdoor stage, featuring cutting-edge lighting, audio systems and 3D mapping effects. The show is divided into four chapters, drawing from traditional Vietnamese folktales and legends to take the audience through time, from peaceful rural villages and bustling market scenes to vivid folk dances, cultural festivals, and the grandeur of ancient royal courts. Viewers are immersed in a historical and cultural experience that bridges the past and the present.
More than 300 performers, dressed in elaborate traditional costumes, participate in the production. The show blends diverse elements of Vietnamese folk music, stage props, water effects, and choreographed lighting to deliver a rich and emotional performance.
The aim is to offer a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s cultural identity. After each performance, visitors can participate in a traditional lantern-floating ritual, wishing for peace and happiness for themselves and their families.

Speaking to Dantri, visitor Ngoc Kim said watching Quintessence of Vietnam in such a vast open-air setting, combined with modern technologies, was a captivating experience that made her feel more connected to the country’s history.
“The performers were so professional, we couldn’t take our eyes off them,” she said. “Each show has its theme and aesthetic, so I watched both the daytime and evening versions. Though I must say, the outdoor venue can feel a bit stuffy on hot days.”
