On May 7, a technical team from Mines Advisory Group (MAG) Vietnam discovered a buried bunker of ordnance while conducting clearance operations in Dong Ha. The explosives were found just five centimetres below the surface.

The cache included various types of hazardous explosives, including mortar shells left over from wartime. The munitions were safely transported to a demolition site by MAG technicians for secure disposal.
According to MAG Vietnam, the find underscores the continued presence of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in residential areas and agricultural land throughout Quang Tri—a province heavily bombed during the Vietnam War and one of the most UXO-contaminated regions in the country.
