Hanoi proposes VND71.15-trillion road linking Gia Binh Airport

Hanoi has proposed building a VND71.15 trillion (USD2.73 billion) road to connect to the under-construction Gia Binh Airport.

The project, which is around 35 kilometres long and recommended by Hanoi's authorities to the government, links Gia Binh Airport in Bac Ninh Province with the intersection of the Tu Lien Bridge approach road and Hanoi's Belt Road 3.

The 14-kilometre section running through Hanoi will cost VND42.45 trillion, including VND8.11 trillion for site clearance.

Meanwhile, the section travelling via Bac Ninh will cost VND28.69 trillion, including VND7.19 trillion for site clearance.

Hanoi has suggested dividing the project into two sub-projects. The first, involving site clearance, will be funded through public investment. The second, related to road construction, will be carried out under a public-private partnership model through a build-transfer contract.

Construction of Gia Binh Airport began in December of last year. Once completed by late this year, the 125-ha airport will support flight operations, training, and combat readiness for the Vietnam People's Public Security Air Force.
