Airlines urged to increase Reunification Day holiday flights

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has urged domestic airlines to add more flights to HCM City to meet demand on the coming Reunification Day (April 30)-May Day holiday.

HCM City will hold many national-level activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and Reunification Day from April 20 to May 5. To serve the higher travel demand to the city during this time, CAAV has asked airlines to provide more flights to and from HCM City, particularly on the Hanoi-HCM City route.

Carriers are also encouraged to schedule more flights in off-peak hours and at night to optimise operational efficiency and alleviate congestion at busier times.

Airlines are required to tightly monitor demand, adjust flight schedules and co-operate with airports and service providers to ensure smooth operations.

Vietnamese airlines are expected to run around 7,536 domestic flights with a total of 1.5 million seats between April 25 and May 5, up 21 percent on-year.

Terminal 3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport has been put into official operation, helping reduce pressure on existing terminals.
