Delegates attend the ground-breaking ceremony for 13 houses for disadvantaged households in Minh Xuan Commune, Luc Yen District, Yen Bai Province on April 18.
The 13 families will receive support amounting to over VND1 billion, generously contributed by Dantri readers.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, journalist Nguyen Xuan Toan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Dantri, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to readers and philanthropists nationwide for their support of the newspaper's charity housing initiative.-
Toan shared that thanks to the strong support from readers, donors, businesses, and local authorities, Dantri has already surpassed its initial goal of building 100 houses.
Since April 10, 2024, Dantri has launched construction on 116 houses, with 75 already completed and handed over.

Nguyen Xuan Toan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Dantri, speaks at the event.
"Dantri provided emergency aid of VND5 million to each family who lost loved ones in Luc Yen District, right after Typhoon Yagi struck in September 2024. Following that, a series of articles on Dantri called for public support, raising hundreds of millions of dong for each affected household," Toan said.
He further noted that Dantri had teamed up with the Ministry of Public Security’s 19-8 Hospital and Duc Giang General Hospital to provide free medical consultations and distribute medicine to 400 residents in Minh Xuan and Minh Chuan communes, two of the hardest-hit areas after the typhoon.
"In addition, Dantri has started construction on Trang Thanh Bridge thanks to VND500 million in donations. This bridge will ensure residents of Minh Xian Commune no longer have to worry about crossing the stream during heavy rains. Children can travel safely to school, goods can be transported more easily, and the local economy will gradually improve," Toan added.
He also extended sincere thanks to the leaders of Yen Bai Province, the Department of Home Affairs, Luc Yen District, and Minh Xuan Commune for their ongoing support of Dantri’s humanitarian efforts.
“I hope the residents will soon benefit from their dream homes. I also hope Luc Yen District, Minh Xuan Commune, and local residents will continue to support Dantri so that these families can quickly move into safe, solid houses,” Toan emphasised.
At the event, Nong Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Luc Yen District People's Committee, remarked, “Right after Typhoon Yagi hit, Dantri promptly reached out to support our district in the immediate aftermath. On behalf of the district leadership, we sincerely thank Dantri and its readers across the country for their love and care for the people of Luc Yen."

Nong Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Luc Yen District People's Committee, speaks at the ceremony.
“We pledge to mobilise both internal and external resources to help our people settle down and rebuild their lives. We hope readers will continue to support Dantri to expand these humanitarian activities.”

As part of the ceremony, Dantri presented each of the 13 households with two warm blankets along with the housing support.
Representing the supported families, Hoang Van Dieu from Minh Xuan Commune expressed his gratitude: “Thanks to the support from Dantri readers, our family is finally able to realise a dream we've had for decades. I’ll do my best to complete the house, give my family a better life, and work hard to escape poverty.”

Later the same day, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Xuan Toan and local leaders visited the under-construction Trang Thanh Bridge.

The bridge has long been a dream of residents in Trang Thanh Hamlet and Minh Xuan Commune as a whole.
In response to the government's campaign to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing, Dantri originally set a goal of building 100 homes for poor and near-poor families nationwide between 2024 and 2025.
With overwhelming support from readers, donors, businesses, and local authorities, the newspaper has already achieved this goal ahead of schedule.
Dantri has now set a new target of building an additional 100 charity houses this year, helping 100 more disadvantaged families move into safe, permanent homes.
From April 10, 2024, to date, 116 charity houses have been initiated, with 75 already completed.
To meet the overall target of constructing 200 houses by the end of 2025, Dantri hopes for continued support from readers, philanthropists, and organisations to help families in need realise their dream of stable housing.
