Hue resumes riverside pedestrian road project

Hue City in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue has resumed a pedestrian road project by Nhu Y River.

The 1.6-kilometre connecting Phu Hoi and Xuan Phu wards in Thuan Hoa District will cost VND267 billion (USD10.45 million).

The road is designed with granite paving and powder-coated stainless steel railings for durability and aesthetics. The route accommodates a parking area of over 1,300 square metres adjacent to Dap Da, a 36-metre-long arch bridge spanning the Phat Lat Canal, and 11 waterfront piers along the way.

The pedestrian road along Nhu Y River has been resumed

The project, part of the second phase of the Hue Water Environment Improvement Project Management Board, was started in July 2023 and was initially slated to be operational by June 2024. But it has remained incomplete until now.

The sluggish road construction has been attributed to the funding structure adjustment of several Hue Water Environment Improvement Project contract packages due to a sharp decline in the Japanese yen exchange rate.

Once put into use, the pedestrian road by the Nhu Y River is expected to be an ideal spot for sightseeing and leisure.

The central province of Thua Thien-Hue has also planned to build a VND221-billion pedestrian road along the Huong River in Hue City. The road, located on the southern bank of the Huong River, is 1.9 kilometres long and 8.5 metres wide. It connects Bui Thi Xuan Park and the intersection of Bui Thi Xuan Street and Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street.
