More than 20 international delegations will attend the grand parade in HCM City to mark the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30), according to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang.

This morning, April 18, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Hanoi held a press conference on activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and Reunification Day.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said that the anniversary has attracted great interest and enthusiastic support from international delegates.

Until now, around 20 foreign delegations have confirmed their participation in the event, including three high-level delegations, five ministerial-level or higher delegations, and representatives from 15 political parties across various continents, many of them led by senior party officials.

The parade will feature a delegation of 120 distinguished overseas Vietnamese preparing through formation drills, preliminary reviews, and full dress rehearsals. This marks the first time a bloc of overseas Vietnamese will participate in such a parade.

The national reunification celebration will also see the participation of several former war correspondents, overseas Vietnamese journalists, and notable individuals abroad who played active roles in the anti-war movement and made notable contributions from abroad.

Around 20 sister cities and partner localities of HCM City have also registered to join the celebration.

Vice Chairwoman of the HCM City People's Committee, Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, revealed that the event is expected to welcome more than 6,000 guests from central agencies and international delegations. In addition, around 10,000 people will take part in the standing bloc, including large crowds of residents lining the streets to witness the celebration.

A military parade contingent from Laos and Cambodia will participate in the anniversary celebration.

The event will have seven double-decker buses, one carrying Heroes of the People's Armed Forces and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and six transporting war veterans from all localities nationwide.
