According to the department, the proposed Cat Lai Bridge would begin at Nguyen Thi Dinh Street in HCM City and end at the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway in Dong Nai.

The total length of the project is approximately 11.37 kilometres, including over 3 kilometres of bridge span and the remainder comprising approach roads. The bridge is designed for speeds up to 80 km/h, with a cross-section featuring six lanes for motor vehicles and two mixed-use lanes.

The cable-stayed bridge would have a width of 33.5 metres, with approach viaducts measuring 30 metres wide. The total estimated investment is VND 19.391 trillion (approximately USD770 million).

The project will be divided into four components including land clearance in HCM City (estimated at VND3.611 trillion), land clearance in Dong Nai Province (estimated at VND2.967 trillion), construction of the Cat Lai Bridge (estimated at over VND9 trillion), and construction of connecting roads (estimated at VND3.779 trillion).

Previously, the Prime Minister approved the assignment of Dong Nai People's Committee as the competent State agency to implement the project under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, specifically through a build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract.
